After a successful Twenty20 Cup for Glamorgan last season, batting sensation, Herschelle Gibbs is set to return to the Club. A popular choice amongst the team and supporters, Herschelle brings with him a wealth of experience and expertise.
Having played for South Africa since 1997 and with 90 Tests and 227 One-Day Internationals under his belt, Herschelle is a player of considerable experience. Best known for smashing into the record books on March 16th, 2007, for striking six sixes in an over against Holland in the 2007 World Cup, Herschelle is an ambitious player who will be a great addition to the team.
Commenting on his return, Herschelle said: "I'm really excited about returning to Glamorgan, joining the team for the Twenty20 Cup last season was a great experience. I am looking forward to having more time over the summer to play with Glamorgan and hopefully helping the team progress in their 2009 Campaign."
Glamorgan's Cricket Manager, Matthew Maynard added: "I am absolutely delighted about Herschelle returning to the Club, he made a great impression on the team in 2008 and he is an inspirational player to add to the squad. Herschelle is a typical example of the cricketing experience that we are looking to sign to the Club and I'm thrilled that he is joining us next season."
Glamorgan's Chairman, Paul Russell added: "Here at the SWALEC Stadium, we are making major progress both on and off the field as we draw towards the 2009 season. The addition of Herschelle to the squad is a fine example of another great achievement for the Club. I am sure that Herschelle will be a superb asset to the team and I am thrilled with his appointment."
